A one of a kind work on Hahnemuhle paper, glued on wooden block and layered with hot beeswax.

Please note that work is absolutely not perfect. It is handmade and exactly what I want in a work.
Beeswax is a product of nature and should not be placed in direct sunlight or near other hot devices and handled with care (don’t touch the surface with your warm fingers).
It can be framed without glass, because the wax serves as a protection layer.

In my creative proces I sometimes start printing, cutting, combining or framing, using my works and this results in a one of a kind artwork.
These works cannot be reproduced exactly the same, so they are one of a kind pieces.
This specific work was printed by me, hand colored and finished on a 3,5 cm massive, wooden block and layered with beeswax in which a small piece of antique lace was entered into the work.
The series ‘Not your face’ are portraits made from the idea that we are not our faces. This is ‘just’ the outside. What we really are is hidden inside us and has to be investigated by others to get to know us. The antique lace is added from the idea that step by step we were formed into who we are today. The beeswax layer will keep us save and protected, however the material is vulnerable and will damage when harm is done, just like our innerselves.
Please note that this piece is handmade and will show all kind of flaws, which is part of the charm of this handmade piece. Handle with care and in case fingerprints are shown on the front, just gently rub with a soft cloth.
